“Take care of your body. It’s the only place you have to live.” ~Jim Rohn

Do you feel like you ought to exercise, but you can’t really get up the steam to do it? That somehow, it’s all too much hassle, even though we all know how important it is?

“Exercise is a tribute to the heart.” ~Gene Tunney

Are you always looking for some way of doing exercise that you enjoy and can stick with?

Scientific research shows that the best exercise you can get to live longer and in better health is dancing. What—old fashioned, may I have the pleasure, ballroom type dancing? (Well, it is very popular now.) How can that be the latest, best new exercise hack?

Dancing does much more for your body, your muscles, and your brain. You have to be disciplined, coordinated, and flexible. You need good posture and strong muscles. You have to control your breathing.

It keeps your brain active, because you have to integrate so many different things at once—moving your arms, legs, and head in the right way, keeping in time to the music. You have to be aware of others on the dance floor and gracefully avoid them. You have to memorize the steps.

All that work makes your brain develop more cells and a bigger hippocampus. It helps protect you against memory loss, against cognitive decline.

It’s great for preserving your sense of balance; dancers don’t fall over as they get older and so they stay out of hospital and live longer.

It’s sociable; mostly you dance with other people. And you can practice at home if you want.

It lifts your spirits and stops you from getting depressed.

You live longer, you’re happier, you have more energy, and you make friends.

So, lots of scientific reasons to motivate you to get dancing.

Proof Chiropractic Lowers Stress, Raises Wellness

By – Marissa Luck

It is well-known that chiropractic is effective for a variety of pain
conditions, but over the last few years, more and more studies have found that chiropractic can also help
us improve our overall health. Some of these recent studies have shown that chiropractic can alter
immune function, affect heart rate, and even reduce blood pressure. A 2011 study from Japan suggests
that chiropractic may have an even bigger impact on your body than you think.
Stress is an incredibly important indicator of health, and if there’s one thing that will kick your immune
system into overdrive, it’s chronic spinal pain. Scientists in Japan sought to see whether chiropractic
could alter stress levels in 12 men and women with neck pain. To understand how chiropractic impacts
anxious emotions, you could ask patients to report their changing moods before and after treatment. But
scientists in Japan wanted to get a more objective picture of how chiropractic adjustments impact the
nervous system, so they use PET scans to monitor  brain activity and salvia samples to track hormone
After receiving a chiropractic neck adjustment, patients had altered brain activity in the parts of the brain
responsible for pain processing and stress reactions. They also had significantly reduced  cortisol levels,
indicating decreased stress. Participants also reported lower pain scores and a better quality of life after
The findings suggests that chiropractic adjustments affect how our body interprets and copes with pain,
which could enhance its response to disease and injury. As scientists learn more about the human body
and the role of the nervous system, it’s clear that chiropractic can play a powerful role in promoting true
wellness, rather than just symptom relief.

Arc Of Life

There is one missing link in all of health care. There is one missing piece of the puzzle that almost every doctor on the planet leaves out when evaluating their patients. There is a major reason why people can see doctors for years and still remain sick, diseased, and loaded to the gills with medications. There is one answer to all of mankind’s suffering that is continually overlooked by all conventional, medical approaches. Drugs and surgery will never be the answer to you achieving optimal health and well-being. Medicine never finds the cause, it just suppresses the symptom.

Wouldn’t you want to find out what the MISSING LINK is?

Here are some research articles:

“Loss of cervical (neck) curve/ THE ARC OF LIFE stretches the spinal cord 5 to 7 cm and produces pathological tension, putting the body in a state of disease.” – Alfred Breig, MD

The loss of cervical lordosis reduces the patients lung capacity by up to 30% (Davis, 1996; Korr, 1975; Bernini, Wiesel and Rothman,1982)

Decreased blood flow from abnormal posture is a major factor in ALL DISEASE, including cancer. Reich (MD) 1974

Decreased curves & spinal position affect heart, lungs & digestive system Calliet (MD): Winsor (MD)

212 Autopsies= 100% disease in spine to disease in organs Faulty posture (LOSS OF CURVE IN NECK) causes WEAK immune system, organ disease, muscle tension, and increased sensitivity to pain. Korr

Tapping Therapy

Sometimes we have past hurts stored in our mind that then effect our physical bodies. There is a therapy called Tapping or Thought Field Therapy (TFT) orginiated by Dr. Roger Callahan that can help reduce or eliminate this type of pain.

There are energy pathways or “meridians” throughout the body. These pathways send electrical impulses throughout the body to keep all systems working very similar to the nerve pathways which are stimulated in our body with chiropractic adjustments. The meridians can move and store energy as well as emotions. A person can have an illness, allergy, or chronic pain in a specific area of the body as a result of a specific emotional pain stored in that meridian.

Dr. Callahan discovered that one can release the stored emotions by tapping along these meridians in an acupressure fashion while focusing your mind on the past hurt or current stress such as fear, sadness or anxiety.

To begin determine the emotion you wish to release and determine 1-10 (10 being the highest) how intense the feeling is. You tap 9 different points starting with the karate chop of your left hand (see diagram below). You tap 10 times and then move to top of head tapping 5-7 times working your way down one side of the body to the collarbone and lastly under the arm. Tap until the feeling you are focusing on is down to a 1 or totally gone. As you tap, repeat aloud a phrase about the hurt you are dealing with and follow it up with the affirmation I deeply and completely love and accept myself. Here’s an example of a full phrase to say:

Even though I am afraid to ask for a raise, I deeply and completely love and accept myself.

You can check this out on Youtube as well and tap along. A favorite of mine is Tapping with Brad Yates.

TV host Kelly Ripa had a severe fear of flying resulting from watching airplanes hit the World Trade Center on Sept 11. She worked with Dr. Callahan and was able to get on a five hour flight.

Did you know that 40%of the population currently suffers with sleeping problems?

It isn’t uncommon for Chiropractors to find a misalignment of the first two cervical vertebrae, the atlas and the axis, in people who suffer from sleep disorders like insomnia and sleep apnea.

Since a good night’s sleep is one of the most important requirements for complete healing, restoring normal sleep is a desired effect of any chiropractic care plan. It’s common for many regular chiropractic patients to see an improvement in sleeping habits within the first week of care, regardless of the condition they come in with. Sleeping better is a common ‘side effect’ when normal alignment is restored at the C1/C2 area, and no drugs have to be involved!

A Misaligned atlas or axis can be determined with simple chiropractic tests like thermography, upper cervical x-rays or postural analysis. If you know someone suffering with poor sleep, tell them to save their money on a new pillow and have their upper neck evaluated by a chiropractor. If we can get you sleeping better, we can get you healing better.

Heal Yourself From The Inside Out

Let’s set the stage: Pretend that you have chronic low back pain. How would you treat it?

Conventionally, you may take painkillers or an epidural to numb the pain. However, this method will only mask the symptoms.
Now, pretend you have a headache. How would you treat that? Commonly, you can pop an Advil and hope it goes away, right?
Unfortunately, all too often, lower back pain or headache will come back full swing once the epidural and painkillers wear off.
With that said, there must be a more effective way to heal the body…

…But, HOW?

Answer: Look Past The Surface
When it comes down to your health, you have to think outside the box. How do we do this?

We need to look past the surface symptoms and realize that healing comes from within.
Remember how your amazing body developed from two cells? How did your body know to do that? That LIFE, that POWER is within each of us.
Treating the symptom ONLY without addressing the underlying issue is not the way – it’s similar to trimming weeds in the garden – the weeds will grow back – maybe not right away, but with time.
However, to get rid of the weeds for good, you must pull them out by the root.

Find The Root Cause
Whether it’s low back pain, chronic headaches, anxiety or whatever the symptom or diagnosis may be, symptoms are often misleading. Look for the solution, not the symptom.
Further, understand one concept – the body heals itself. If you treat the root, the body will take care of itself, naturally.

How Do You Boost Your Body’s Natural Ability To Heal Itself Inside Out
All roads lead back to the nervous system, the master system in the body, the first system to develop in the body.
Therefore, balancing the nervous system will bring the body back into balance.
Subluxations disrupt nervous system functioning.
Adjustments restore proper nervous system flow thereby harmonizing all internal organs and promoting circulation

Adrenal Glands

You have two adrenal glands. They’re located on top of each of your kidneys. They’re part of your endocrine system.  Your adrenal glands are responsible for numerous hormone-related functions in your body. What most people don’t know is that the adrenals can be responsible for effecting blood pressure and blood sugar levels.

Two of the most important hormones released by the adrenal glands are aldosterone and cortisol. Aldosterone helps control your blood pressure by managing the balance of potassium and sodium in your body. Cortisol works in conjunction with adrenaline and noradrenaline to help regulate your reaction to stress. Cortisol also helps regulate your metabolism, sugar levels, and blood pressure.

STRESS will affect how your adrenals work.  If you are under stress a lot, good or bad stress, your adrenals can burn out or fatigue.  The signs of adrenal fatigue are lower body obesity, difficulty getting up in the morning, high levels of fatigue during the day and high energy in the evenings, a weak immune system, cravings for salty foods, extreme irritability, high blood pressure, and high sugar levels.  Abnormal signals result from nerve blockage of the spine and can disrupt the amount of hormones that are produced.  For example, if too much cortisol is produced your cells become insulin resistant resulting in increased blood sugar = Diabetes.  We can check your adrenals very easily through blood pressure.  If your adrenals are fatigued, your adjustments with DSF supplementation will help to regulate them back to normal.

Dr. Mayo’s Wife Gets Help From An Adjustment

In the early 20th century, Dr. Charles Mayo, physician, surgeon, and co-founder of the famed Mayo Brothers Clinic in Rochester, Minnesota, brought his wife for treatment to Dr. BJ Palmer’s office in Davenport, Iowa.

Dr. Mayo had taken his wife to other physicians, including doctors in Europe, all distinguished diagnosticians and specialists. The specialists had agreed upon a diagnosis of osteochondromatosis of the knee. They had tried everything medical to heal Mrs. Mayo, but all treatment had failed.

When Mrs. Mayo saw Dr. Palmer, spinographs were ordered. Dr. Palmer also performed readings with the neurocalometer and neurocalograph. Dr. Mayo asked why spinal X-rays were being taken. Dr. Palmer explained that he was going to locate the vertebral subluxation which could be the cause of her sickness. Then Dr. Palmer gave Mrs. Mayo an upper cervical chiropractic adjustment to release spinal cord compression from the vertebral occlusion in her spinal canal.

Dr. Mayo could not believe that Dr. Palmer only adjusted his wife and nothing else. Dr. Palmer said to Dr. Mayo, “You bringing her here proves your methods have failed”.

Mrs. Mayo received chiropractic care for several months and became well.

Dr. Palmer explained that while medical doctors are concerned in knowing everything about effects; chiropractors are vitally concerned in the cause which originates in the backbone and chiropractors know how to correct it.

60-80% of Mayo Clinic patients were then referred by “someone” on the staff.

Holistic care wins over medicine. What we do here is unique because we get to the CAUSE. We don’t just patch up your symptoms!

Is Exercise Enough?

Fitness Image

Often when I exercise, I hear the instructors say that exercise alone will not get you to lose weight. You have to also be mindful of what you put into your bodies too. This made me think about a question I often get from patients . . . Can’t I just exercise to keep my spine aligned and feeling well?

The answer is NO! A spinal adjustment is meant to produce improved movement in your body just like exercise can. It also helps tight muscles relax through quickly stretching the muscles. The adjustment hits a reset button on your tight muscles. Once the muscles have relaxed, your muscles send a signal to your spinal cord and the brain. Therefore, they get re-adapted to the proper position of the joint. However, a spinal adjustment does more than just allow your muscles and ligaments to be more relaxed. The most important thing a spinal adjustment does is to take pressure off your nerves so that your body can work right. There are no exercises that do that.

Someone can exercise daily and still have underlying pressure on their nervous system. 90% of the time there is no pain associated with this but it can be the beginning of the disease process in the body. Dr. Henry Windsor dissected human and animal cadavers to see if there was a relationship between any diseased internal organs and the vertebrae and nerves that went to the organs. He found 100% correlation between the spine and disease of internal organs.

Keep exercising but make sure your spine is aligned properly and your nerves have no pressure on them.
