Lumbar Stenosis

Lumbar Stenosis

What is it? – A chronic issue. It is a narrowing of the spinal canal in the lower part of the back.  This puts pressure on your spinal cord and nerves. Can also happen in other parts of your spine.

What causes it? – Wear and tear from not taking care of your spine which results in disc herniation’s, bulges and arthritis.  All of which narrow down that space that the spinal cord and nerves travel.

What does it feel like? – You may have trouble walking distances, always looking for the next place to sit down and needing to lean forward (like on a shopping cart) to relieve the pressure on your low back.  You may have pain or numbness in your buttocks and legs.  Severe cases it may effect bowel and bladder functioning.  The slowing down and decrease in movement will lead to other health conditions creeping in.

A new review of the literature shows the benefits of manual therapy (ADJUSTMENTS) and movement based care (exercise) in the short, intermediate and long term care while exposing the flaws of epidural steroid injections, medication (64% adverse effects), and surgical intervention

(EVEN THOUGH #1 REASON FOR SPINAL SURGERY).
